The cold, hard truth on other ice melts.

Avoid the performance vs. pitfalls trade-off with Entry®, which outperforms de-icer alternatives.

Urea

Urea won’t burn pets’ paws, but that’s where benefits end. It stops melting once the thermometer dips below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and is terrible for the environment – even limited in many states.

Carbohydrate

Carbohydrate ice melts are derived from beets and potatoes. They leave behind stickiness (bad news for floors) and phosphorus (bad for the planet). They’re usually mixed with chloride, too.

Calcium

Don’t be fooled: Calcium is a chloride, with many of the same tradeoffs that come with sodium chloride rock salts.
